Horror Movies 2019: 8 Movies for You to Enjoy on Halloween

Our selection of the best horror movies to enjoy Halloween.

Which are the best 2019 horror movies that will terrify you?  This post should give you some answers, as well as some suggestions to watch on Halloween 2019.

8 movies released in 2019 for you to watch on Halloween

Get your popcorn ready, put the lights out and... enjoy the movie!

1. Child’s Play

A remake of the classic horror movie of the '80s. The initial premise is the same: a mother gives her son the doll that every child wants. But when at home, the toy seems to have a life of its own and shows a strong desire to kill.

The movie changes some things from the original, and the most important change is that the doll is not bewitched by voodoo magic, but has been programmed to do evil. A good choice for this Halloween 2019.

2. Annabelle Comes Home

Chucky wasn't the only 'Devil Doll' to slip into the horror movies of 2019! We also find 'Annabel comes home', the third part of the 'Annabelle' saga, which, in turn, is a spin-off from the film 'The Conjuring', where we see how the cursed doll ends up in the cabinet of the Warrens, and how it will cause a revolution among the other enchanted objects of the house that will make the couple's young daughter feel terrified.

3. The Curse of La Llorona

We continue in the Warren universe because this film connects with the previous ones, as well as with 'The Nun', especially for a detail that only the most skilful spectators will know how to find. In Mexico, there is a legend about the spirit in sorrow of a woman who wanders the streets, and whose crying is real torture.

For Halloween 2019 you can watch this film in which La Llorona becomes someone locked between heaven and hell, condemned to wander because she drowned her two children. However, the action is not located in Latin America, but in Los Angeles, the United States.

4. Us

From the director of 'Get Out,' we have the ideal movie for Halloween 2019: 'Us'. A couple goes with their children on holiday to a house on the beach, and something terrifying happens there: they meet four people who are identical to them, but with one difference: it seems as if they have been empowered by the evil side that we all, in theory, have. Starring Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o.

5. It Chapter Two

In 2017, 'It, Chapter I' was released, and its second part automatically became one of the most anticipated horror movies in 2019.  Based on Stephen King's novel, it explains how the Losers Club gathers 27 years later, as adults, to confront the evil Pennywise. The movie generated more than $185 million at the box office worldwide in its first weekend, making it one of the best horror film premieres in history.

6. Pet Sematary

Stephen King once again inspires one of the best 2019 horror movies. A doctor discovers an old animal cemetery near his new house. Legend has it that whoever is buried there will come back to life (but perhaps not in the same way we know them).

A very interesting film, with many images full of symbolism, that includes some surprise points for those who knew the original story. The novel with the same name which was written by King himself was already adapted in 1989.

7. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)

A group of young people are caught up in a chain of sudden deaths in their village, and they must get to work to shed light on the mystery.

Produced by Guillermo del Toro, it is one of the best horror movies premieres of the current year. Under this classic premise, we find a film that gathers several horror stories with a Gothic touch.

8. Crawl

The list of the best 2019 horror movies finishes with a film that is not suitable for those who suffer from selachophobia, i.e. those who are afraid of sharks. There is a hurricane in a town in Florida, and the city is evacuated. A woman, however, decides to skip the directions and goes to find her father at home. There, the house begins to flood, and soon she will discover that the rise of water is not the only thing that puts her life at risk.
